Golf Pitching Tips

Golf Pitching Tips

In pitching, the ball describes a very high curve, stopping almost immediately after hitting the turf. The golf club used must be a sandwedge because it gives the ball an effect due to its loft (angle of the clubhead) very high.

This technique is the first step towards full implementation of the swinging motion (more information at the golf swing tips area).

Depending on the distance to the green, the swinging motion should be trained to their extension.

The ball must lie midway between the two feet, and hands should position themselves in relation to the clubhead slightly more toward the hole. The movement should be calm, slow and must be characterized, when taking the swing, by the sharp bending of the wrists. The way to pick up the golf club and posture must be identical to the longer strokes.

Instructions for pitching

As in all other strokes to approach the flag, here you should train in different positions around the green, a distance of 15 to 80 meters. To increase your confidence during the games, there is nothing better than playing the balls from very difficult positions.

Swinging motion with a tee on the handle of the bat

  • Golf club that you should use: sandwedge.
  • Normal starting position.
  • Take swing with your arms, until the left forearm is parallel to the ground.
  • Bend your wrists until the tee handle is placed in an upright position relative to the ground.
  • Complete the swinging motion.

Objective of the exercise – Correct bending of the wrists during the swinging motion.

Pitching from various distances

  • Place several sets of balls at different points, starting with the front edge of the green.
  • Between 10 to 15 balls at intervals of 15 meters.
  • Run the pitching (3 balls at a time), alternating positions.

Objective of the exercise – Improve the sensitivity for the respective distances.
